Description

Dr. Ros is a Staff Scientist in the Membrane Biophysics Laboratory, CECAD, University of Cologne.
Uris’s research interests lie in membrane biophysics and cell death.
She received her bachelor (2004) and a master (2007) in Biochemistry at the University of Havana, Cuba, and her PhD in Biology (2012) at the same University.
After her PhD, she became a fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation vising the Membrane Biophysics lab of the Interfaculty Institute of Biochemistry Tubingen. She combines membrane biophysics with biochemistry, structural and cell biology to understand the molecular mechanism of regulated necrosis.
In her was, pore formation was identified as a core mechanism in necroptosis, which is common with other types of regulated cell death.
She is currently interested in understanding the downstream consequences of this process and the regulation and molecular mechanism of MLKL, the most downstream executor of necroptosis.
